The U.S. Open Tennis Tournament has begun! It started Monday and continues through September 12th.
If you’re looking for a fun way to spend a day, buy general admission tickets, walk around and watch some of the matches and practice sessions held on the outer courts – it’s a great opportunity to see some of the best in the game up close.
You’ll be amazed at how strong and fast most players are, and how hard the men serve. I once sat behind the court when Boris Becker, who had one of the fastest serves in the game, played Yannick Noah. When Becker was serving – at over 120 miles an hour — toward our seats, I found myself ducking every time. Couldn’t stop the reflex even though my brain “knew” it was unlikely someone that accurate would misfire.
If you want to know more about the rules of the game, see my article from July 7th.
