Today is the first day of fall. And with “yes, I’m looking forward to fall” kicking ass in our poll, I guess I’m one of the few not anxiously anticipating the days getting colder and shorter.
My mother is from Iceland and I grew up in New England, so I should embrace the change of the seasons and look upon the impending winter with a romantic longing, right?
Although it doesn’t this year, the autumnal equinox often falls on my birthday, September 23. Which makes me think: maybe I don’t hate winter so much as I am deeply in love with summer.
And maybe that’s because from the day I was born, I had to wait longer for it than anyone.
Ah, until next year, lover…
